Combine flips over in Risingsun

A combine flipped over late Tuesday afternoon in the Village of Risingsun after its operator crossed a small bridge.

The accident took place at around 4:30 p.m. on Rising Sun Road / County Road 11 and Township Highway 26 in Sandusky County.

The operator told the Sandusky County Sheriff that he drove the combine across the small bridge. He heard the wooden bridge creak as the weight of the combine crossed. The bridge collapsed seconds later.

It took firefighters more than two hours to remove the combine from the ditch. Two heavy recovery tow trucks had to be brought in to lift it out.

The operator was not hurt in the accident.
