  • Muito bom. Adoro Marisa Montes. Só não entendi o porquê de tantos comentários em inglês. We´re glad some foreigners like our music, we don't have only Samba, but a lot more to offer. Rita Lee is another monster of our music, she comes from Os Mutantes, a super famous group back from the 60's.

  • @charleswcastro1 The reason behind the many comments in English is, I'm sure, the fact that I have subtitled it in English and for that specific purpose: make Brazilian music (which I love) more accessible to people around the globe. That is what my channel on youtube is all about. I had tons of other videos, including Vanessa da Mata, but youtube has censored most of them.

  • Owesome! I just discovered this amzing diva and realized I know a lot of her songs from when I lived in Brazil. I am a big fan of Brazilian music. I am looking for a song that goes."Sim deus quizer...........y tomar banho de sol, banho de sol, banho de sol" did she record that? I can't find it. if so can you post it? :-)

  • @seriouslyinsanediva I dont think so! The song's name: Baila comigo, by Rita Lee, but i prefer this version: Maria Bethânia e Zélia Duncan - Baila comigo / Shangrilá

  • @rossi5010 yes, there u go

  • @seriouslyinsanediva Oh, the name of that song is "Baila Comigo" and it was written and recorded by another artist called Rita Lee, also Brazilian. Good suggestion for a subtitled video. Let me see if I find the time to do it! In any case, hope i was able to help. Thanks for commenting!

  • maybe this song should have no much sense for foreigns, but it speaks about some regions of Brazil' northeast livers that depends of harvest and breeding of animals to live, but they have no support to live as so, have no piped water, and depends of climatic conditions to live, in a region that rain is not so common, because of it they live in a miserable situation and pass hungry.

  • Rita Lee has Confederate/Southern roots (see: The "Confederados" of Brazil/America) AND... she's actually the GodMother of Maria Rita, Elis Regina's daughter. Check it out if you don't believe me! Marisa Monte is AWESOME, though. Her best work IMHO is with Brown and Antunes from "Os Tribalistas" (See: Ja Sei Namorar). To hear something funny, check out: "Tem Batom Nos Dentes" and look for the English Translation. It's Hilarious, especially if you studied Portuguese in High School like me! Peace!

  • Que bonito!

  • @randomcrapist yes, thank you, I actually found a couple of clips of Rita Lee singing "baila comigo" but I would much prefer to see a well done video with nice visuals.

It's fun to rescue some interesting songs that I heard when I was there between 1994 to 1996.

The 90"s were a great time in Brasilian music, ( as were all the other times ;-) )

  • @Mounhas it's been my pleasure! let me know if you encounter something you'd like to see translated. perhaps I could do it.
