My staffy does this coughing regularly,
I took him to the vets and the vet thinks its a collapsing trachea still have to get him X-rayed to confirm.
Does anyone know anything about it,and can it be fixed? (10 year old staffy)

  • continued>spots under the stairs & went to sleep, It was 1 of the most saddest days of my life. I had him cremated and he's now on the shelve in my lounge room, not quite ready to set him free just yet but the time will come. RIP My Boofhead LUV & MISS U xo

  • continued>through the op, so I didn't take the chance couldn't put him through it plus the lump didn't really worry him, He was on Macrolone 20 MG and a steriod asthma puffer to open his lungs up which helped alot, I did all I could to make him comfortable for his remaining days. On good friday 2010 I went down stairs to say hello and check on him ,He smiled & waged his tail like he always did I gave him a pat and a hug and went back upstairs, within 10 mins he went and layed in 1 of his spots

  • Hello people, Thanks for your comments, just a quick update on the Boofhead (my Budha) had the x-rays done on his throat and chest, they found he had an enlarged heart & a few black spots on his lungs plus his collasping trachea was only minor, in the months that followed he ended up growing a tumor on his left side of the rib cage which got to the size of a tennis ball, the vets said they could operate and cut it out but chances were that it would grow back again or he might not make it through

  • I did take him to a vet right away, he's now on steroids which have changed him over night, he still coughs now and a again but nothing like the video Thank God, still have to get his throat X-rayed to see if it is his trachea but in the end he is old and it cost a lot of money for the op but he's good for now. Cheers
