Ron Polimeni's vintage Volvo PV 544 race car doing exhibition laps at Summit Point Motorsports Park during the 2009 Jefferson 500. This car has been restored to the way it was raced in 1969 when it competed in the Sebring 12hr endurance race, and in the SCCA Runoffs at Daytona. It was at the Jefferson 500 as part of the Marlboro Raceway Reunion, as one of the cars that raced at the circuit in Marlboro, MD. It finished 3rd in Class B Sedan in the last Presidents Cup National race held at Marlboro before the track closed at the end of 1969.

I think one of these could be the ultimate all around retro vintage racer...with a muffler you could almost drive it on the street, and then use if for hill climbs, track days, retro and vintage events...just like the Volvo when it was new, an all around useful fun car. :-)

Nice job, Zandur! The video and sound definitely beats the still photos I took that day. And I'm glad your Dad got to give the 544 a good acceleration run.

I have seen this PV at two VCOA shows. It's great to hear it and see it run.

Beautiful car and sound! What rpm is that lopey idle? And of course everybody wants to know, what are the dyno figures?

The stock B18 engine; for the racing it did, it had to run its stock engine. But, it has been hotrodded to the extent of the rules :)
Thanx,
