Davis Rules was a television series that ran from 1991-1992 and premiered after Super Bowl XXV. It starred Randy Quaid as a school principal raising three kids with the help of his father, played by Jonathan Winters. The show was cancelled by ABC at the end of the 1991 season, but CBS picked it up for another season. Winters won an Emmy in 1992 for his performance in this series.

  • I can't find a single episode of Davis Rules. Can anyone help? This was a great show, from what i remember.

  • Angela Watson, who made a few appearances on this series, decided not to stay with this show, and went to another ABC show- Step By Step.

Smart decision- Angela starred on SBS for seven seasons, and was one of the most underappreciated TV hotties of the 1990s.

  • I was in the 5th grade when this show first came out damn i'm old lol

  • I thought i was the only one who remembered this show. Jonathon Winters and Bonnie Hunt were hilarious. I keep looking for a DVD or some site showing episodes.....but nothing. Hopefully someone will have it soon. Too funny to be lost to us fans forever.

  • this had one of the MOST memorable, funny lines-jonathan winters is introducing himself--"gunny davis,u.s.m..c.----uncle sam's miserable children"-this killed me-being the kid of a marine.....and my marine dad got a charge out of it,too.really funny show-wish it was on dvd!

  • This show moved to CBS for its second season.

  • This was a great show. It should have lasted longer. :(

  • This was one of my favorite shows. A hell of a cast- Randy Quaid and the legendary Jonathan Winters were already well established, but coming out of this show were also Patricia Clarkson, and eventually Bonnie Hunt and Giovanni Ribisi. Even two of the three kids ended up having pretty decent careers and are stiill working today. I know it's an obscure show, but you would think the name value alone of the cast would make it worth a DVD or classic-TV website release.

  • Yeah. This was a fun show from what I remember. :)

  • I have been looking for years to find this on DVD. post here if you find anything.

    I'll do same.

    Thanks!
