Why save a program that was going to create a seven year gap? Constellation killed NASA, not the other way around. Should have extended shuttle and gone to a SD HLV. Ares I was the biggest joke in the history of NASA and this video must be aimed at kids, as anyone with a modicum of knowlegde knows how CxP was a walking disaster, as much as the new plan is too.

Wow... snarky comments are no sign of an intelligent argument! I understand your mad about shuttle going away; me too. 700 billion to bailout ...? and NASA is fighting over scraps... instead of in-fighting, demand more funding for all of NASA's projects! America needs more that just LEO!

How is Constellation flawed?

-Ares 1 lifts 25mt to LEO, giving is similar capacity as the EELV fleet at a much greater cost.

-Constellation MANDATES shuttle retirement in 2010, ISS cancellation in 2015. Orion Block 1 (ISS only) will not be online till AFTER ISS cancellation.

-No HLV for OVER A DECADE at the least, 2 decades are likely.

-Air Force concern about ability for LAS to function during Max Q.

-Requires a budget increase larger than any NASA has received since Apollo.

Great video! It is disrespectful to those who lost their lives in the conquest of space that we should abandon manned spaceflight. Constellation provides the focus that NASA needs to resume its proper role -- exploring the Solar System and beyond!

Save Orion, accelerate development of the necessary launchers, and press forward and outward. Get us back to the moon so we can continue where we left off. The solar system is ours to explore. We just have to reach for it.

Spectacularly done! Constellation, in one form or another, should be the next step for America in the 21st century. America deserves nothing better than the inspiration, accomplishment, and national pride that Constellation has to offer.

NASA is the heart and soul of America, in more ways than the average American realizes. We would not have gotten where we are today without the contributions and sacrifice of the brave men and women at NASA.

Obama is the biggest joke with his lack of NASA leadership and understanding.

Constellation is a case of mend it don't end it. It was underfunded by two presidents and congress. Obama wanting to gut it and spread the fundings to the four nascent winds of unproven commerical endeavors is the walking disaster.

Cernan, Borman, Lovell,Jones,Schmitt,Cunningha­m, Carpenter, Musgrave and many others are against Obama on this, and for good reason. It is a fatal plan.
