Yes, I believe you're right. I should have specified that when this occasionally happens it's in a by-election, not a general election. What May and Dion are doing is unprecedented and I truly hope that the voters in each of these ridings see right through it.

so?
a persons place of birth has little to do with their loyalties.
actions matter, not where the person was born...

There was nothing further to say. He was right, I was wrong. Under Jim Harris, I respected the Green Party and considered them my second choice. I have interviewed Elizabeth May personally, and she's a got a few screws loose. I cannot support a party with her at the helm.

Splattoman, Chris set you straight on the facts, and you have not replied for 2 months. I hope you decide to explore GPC policies and discover that they really make sense.
May keeps claiming that there is a precedent for this type of arrangement... she's wrong. In the past parties have pulled out of ridings for a new party leader needing a seat, when that seat is ALREADY held by the party that leader is representing. Clearly not the case here.
This agreement stinks and I really hope it backfires.

I could be wrong but I think what you described has only happened in by-elections when a newly minted leader is trying to get a seat in the Commons. But this type of backroom politicking is definitely unprecedented.

For my opinion on this leaders courtesy agreement go to

Some Liberals are asking 'why not just vote Green?' To be clear, this is an agreement involving two ridings, and two leaders of federal political parties. This is not a wholesale endorsement of either party, by either leader, nor should it be.

Yes, this was a deal for only two ridings. However, it's still valid to question the judgment of both leaders for making this unprecedented deal. Many supporters of both parties have, as well as supporters of other parties, like myself.

It's important to question the leaders of political parties. This we agree on.

Always, always, always! Leaders' judgment should always be questioned and analyzed, because regardless of whether or not they are PM or ever will be, they can hold a remarkable amount of clout. Mrs. May, for example, likely won't win a seat in Central Nova but you cannot deny the impact she has on the federal political scene or on the environmental movement.
