Bob is an incredibe performer aand Mongrel was a excellent record. I used to go to see him all over the south. He was one of the best acts at Atlanta Pop II in 1970. He did, as the fellow said, always gave his audience 110%. Pep Perine was an awesome drummeer(RIP) Dan Honnaker was an inspiring bassist and Dan Watson? was a perfect compliment to the Seger sound. I met Bob once and found him to be genuine, thooughtful and in control of his ego. In fact, a really nice guy.

Celine's version is a little better.

This is just F$%&in awesome. Thank God somebody saved this great music. I was born a generation too late. Thank you, Thank you, thank you
This strong song is from the Mongrel, with this one finish the "B" side of the L.P. Marvelous one. It is the album I love in my collection. Pep Perrine makes me feel enrgetic with his style. The best project Seger had ever had.

@michisade1 I would say Mongrel is the System's best effort as well, though I don't think any of the songs on it top 2+2 or Ramblin' Gamblin' Man. It's just a very consistent album--not a clunker on it! It's interesting that they never had a follow-up.
As for this song--an undiscovered classic, in my opinion.
