Hire a Classic old Cadillac in Vegas Louis-Joseph Chevrolet was born on December twenty-five, 1878, Canton of Jura, Switzerland.
He shortly grew up to become a racing driver and a founder of the one of the best of the classic Yankee autos, Chevrolet Motor Vehicle Company. As a young man, he developed his mechanical abilities and interest in auto racing in Beaune, France. Here, he worked for the Roblin mechanics shop from 1895 to 1899.
He shortly migrated to Montreal, Quebec in Canada in 1900 and then continued on to NY City where he was employed by FIAT. He used to be a mechanical genius who had small formal education. In 1909, he learned vehicle design and began planning his very own engine for a new automobile. The engine was an overhead valve 6 that he built in his very own machine go shopping at Grand Brook Boulevard, Detroit. Straight after, he partnered with William Durant to start his company. In 1915 due to differences on design Chevrolet sold his share in the company to Durant. The following year, the company folded and became Durant's General Motors. At this time,
Chevrolet shifted his interest to the sports vehicle industry where he created a state of the art race automobile. It was called the Cornelian and it finished twentieth in the 1915 Indy 500. In 1916, Louis partnered with his younger bro Gaston and began the Frontenac Motor Concern where they designed and produced another line of racing automobiles. He nearly died poverty stricken and his remains are buried in the Holy Cross and Saint Joseph Graveyard in Indianapolis, Indiana.
