A hebrew school dropout (like myself) Idina bares her soul to the audience in Ft Lauderdale FL on July 25, 2008. Before her beautiful prayer she remarks on how dissapointed her family was that she decided not to have a bat mitzvah because even at a young age she had such a beautiful talent. She decides that there is no better place to sing her Haftorah than in Ft Lauderdale, where she spent many summers growing up visiting her [now deceased] grandparents. There was a chill in the air as she sang! At the end she says beautiful things about her sister, and why she chose this specific prayer.
that kind of stinks because she said it was the first time she did it.

aw Idina is so sweet...I love how she speaks about her sister. You can hear how much she means to her. And as a side note...I never realized until this that Devorah that Idina references is the woman I know as Deborah...I forget that some names are different in the Torah than the Bible. From being translated or whatever.
