  • it is attachment that is in question to the desire itself. therefore your statment is false.

for the people who want to know the noble path is:

    1. Right understanding

    2. Right intention

    3. Right speech

    4. Right action

    5. Right livelihood

    6. Right effort

    7. Right mindfulness

    8. Right meditation

  • Attachment is the reason for suffering according to the Buddha Gautama. the problem lies in poor translation.

  • This guy just chat so much shit!

Don't ever compare Buddhism to islam! Buddhism is about peace whereas Islam is the complete opposite!

    There is no 'God',

  • I would like to see what people would do if there were no Religions or Spiritual teachings from which they derive their own beliefs. Why does no one try to find the truth for themselves? It really does bother me to see people, myself included, basing their beliefs & lives on what other people say & have said. We should know how to live our lives right, but for some reason most people cannot do so. :(

  • @SuperJohnnyuk Seems you do as well by calling him an idiot.

  • Yes, I agree with most other comments: Dr. Zakir Naik misunderstood the Noble Truths because he tries to understand them intellectually. That won't work ;)

Desire may be the reason for suffering, but it won't simply go away if it is ignored. It must be recognized & accepted first, only then can you let go of it.

  • @JohnRamboMcClane You are right. But I was refering to the second noble truth my friend.

  • He misunderstood Four Noble Truths. If there is no desire then one is like a Robot. So, Buddhists are not Robots. One should have desire to get rid of suffering and negative emotions which causes suffering.

One cannot understand the Dharma intellectually. Logic alone is not sufficient to understand Buddha Dharma. Hope Zakir Naik sees this lines and take time to understand better.

  • The paradox is only due to a superficial understanding of the four noble truths. Anyone who has contact with the plethora of writings or teachers of Buddhism can find an answer to this supposed contradiction. Honestly it appears that this individual has never taken the time to find an answer to his question.
