  • New Album, which has had great reviews, is out on 12 April.

  • love natalie but the audio/visual quality could be better

  • Yes, I know, but it was from a VHS recording so better than nothing I hope!

  • What I've always appreciated about Natalie Merchant is that she never really conformed to "industry standards". Her lyrics are always deep, poetic and substantive. Also, she was all about fighting global issues, such as poverty and environmental degradation long before it was en vogue. I embrace and appreciate her independent expression in her music and life.

  • my mom loves this singer so much she use to play it everytime we got into the car. until we begged her to stop. i miss it now lol

  • @garysevern Makes it even better coming from a VHS recording, nostalgically speaking.

  • natalie Merchant just sings... unlike Madonna, Beyonce', Britany Spears, Gaga, etc.... who rely on dancing to cover up for average somgs and their own limited singing ability. Here we have a LADY who doesn't sell sex. Her singing ability speaks for itself. Also, notice it wasn't lip sync'd like you will usually find with the circus shows those others put on.

  • ...and mr. erik della penna on guitar!

  • I love the kind of R & B feel "Break Your Heart".

  • Amazing woman singing deep moving lyrics and often taking poetry to it's song form. Not many can do that successfully.! I thought she was Anglo at one point as she has a certain Irish undertone to her vocal abilities. Not a voice you would expect from an American.. Then found out she has Irish roots too.. Love her

  • Very talented woman. Wow she sounds the exact same on her cds.

  • Beautiful voice, like always. Natalie is just simply mesmerizing and magical. What a wonderful vocalist and even more lovely person. She's the type of person you can automatically connect with. Genuine and humble. She's amazing.

  • @towandanation

You ever see her work with some children with blindness at the Perkins Institute? Its on here (YT). I really love this artist, this lady. :'')

  • omg, i have been married awhile now lets just say...but my husband and i remember listenening to her in our "not married" days"...man, i love her for now and even more, for the memories! ♥ always!

  • @MegaCatsdogs lol... I feel you. Thank you for remembering

  • 11 people missed the like button...Natalie is a goddess x

  • @towandanation One more thing...if anyone wants to know how the 52,s wrote their songs, let me know. I'm also aware that this is a Natalie site. No dis intented.

  • @lilemmagusthesinger

From what I got from the recent interview I saw her in NYC, she lives in Jamestown, NY. From other trusted sources, she hangs with the B 52's, who have a house there as well

  • Fantasticcccccccc!

  • Fantasticcccccccc!

  • A natural! I will always LOVE her voice.

  • Saw her live in Boston. She did the new album. We thought at first we were going to be disappointed, because we didn't know the new album at all, but she was mesmerizing. A truly remarkable show.

  • Nat is totally a non-conformist, which I'm sure why a Grammy never came her way. I'm sure she wasn't after one to begin with, so it never mattered. She kept, and keeps on being an artist for the art, not for the glory.

  • love this song, makes me want to cry! this is for my mom and dad :)

  • Thanks for this Gary.. i wish this show would get released on dvd. I recorded the audio when the show was broadcast and as a Merchant fan i adored the versions presented here.. then i lost the rips in a HD crash.. so nice to hear them again :)

  • god i love this song so much, this is you mom, r.i.p.

  • Hey, I just got a nugget from Natalie. Saw her during NYTimes series interview. When she tried out for the Maniacs, she was about 17 years old. Little did she know, someone dosed her water with a hit of acid. She said she was flying during her tryout, and was totally shocked when she got the gig. Maybe thats where all of the whirling and twirling started!

  • cool

  • @garysevern Def.!!!

  • I consider myself very lucky to be aware of this woman and her talent :)
