This film explains where the residents on the Isles of Scilly get their electricity from and how the undersea electric cable linking the islands to the mainland is backed-up by a power station on St Mary's, which helps to ensure that the lights are always kept on.
This film was made for Energy Saving Day (E-Day) and explains how E-Day will be able to show any changes in demand in real-time during E-Day 2009 (Tuesday 6th October, 2009).
With thanks to Colin Hicks of Western Power Distribution for permission to film at the St Mary's power station, to Richie Chritopher for explaining how electricity is made so clearly and simply, and to Tom Tapper and Ben Meaker from Nice and Serious for working so hard whilst filming and editting "Live Wire".
