Australian Red Cross is working with communities to build back houses in Aceh

The December 2004 tsunami took a devastating toll on the Indonesian province of Aceh, killing more than 130,000 people and leaving mere than half a million homeless.

A staggering 116,000 homes were destroyed and right now Australian Red Cross is putting the finishing touches to a program that will bring new homes to more than 1500 families in Banda Aceh and on the remote islands of Nias, Simeulue and Pulau Nasi.

In this short video you will hear from Red Cross people about the challenges and successes of this housing program and share the joy as some new home owners take possession of their brand new houses.
