"including one up close with my bro-in-law" I would like to hear more about this! To have two witnesses to a close encounter is certainly worth hearing! I mean both of you can't be wrong, can you? It sound so good that you should go after Randi's million for any evidence and I know dahur has got lots to present to Randi. I don't want to appear to spoil anybody's chances of the mllion, but he is pretty far down the path of claiming the prize! May the best man win!

@blackadderth4 - thanks for your reply and I see your point and agree somewhat; but what I am saying is that we must not measure the validity of anyone based on
information that has been passed on (in the classroom only) - If Dr. Clancy had an experience as some of these people are reporting then I believe her view on the Alien phenomena would be vastly different. The Scientific approach demands that there be testing and retesting of every question before it can be
cataloged as a fact.

"The Scientific approach demands that there be testing and retesting of every question before it can be
cataloged as a fact." and that is the crunch!

@blackadderth4 -- no, it only means that she is mimicing what others in her field has already said without any empirical data. We shouldn't rely so heavily on degrees in a so-called science (study) of the mind, when the best evidence are books...the human psyche and experience is far more complex than what one can learn in a classroom or from books alone...one also needs personal experience.

@bobeagle3
"when the best evidence are books..." well there books out there that have said the Loch Ness monster is real, ghosts, Bermuda Triangle, the bible code, the Titanic didn't sink, the moon missions were faked, that Uri Geller can bend spoons with his mind, various myths spread by David Icke. But when they are put to a scientific sword they all collapse under they own weight of deciet!

Dr. Susan Clancy -- knows very little. She has book knowledge but no practical experience...she starts out by "not believing" and forms her opinion through non-scientific methods (guessing).

"Dr. Susan Clancy -- knows very little." and what do you mean by that? She is a psychologist! And that must mean she is highly qualified!
