This is exactly what I've been trying to figure out how to develop. I came up with what I think is a very similar solution, I'd love to see how you've got it put together. Do you still use this?

@jdub765 Where did you get the reed switch? i can find one that size. Unless you used the glass reed switch? In which case, will that live up to the impact of boarding?
-
how did you make this? Unfortunately I didn't see this a few years ago when you were in the running for getting it produced, or I would have voted for it.
Is there any way you can possibly send me a part list and instructions? This is by far the best system I've seen out there (granted there isn't much out there that's like this, which is part of the problem) and since it isn't being made, I'd like to make it myself.
Also, did you ever figure out if it works with the iPhone?

i would really like to have this for snowboarding. is there any way to share how you made or can i pay you to make it for me? i have seriously been looking forever for this - PLEEEAAAAASSSSSEEEEEE

this is such a smart idea. You should sell the plans online, or even consider going into business for yourself. This is something that many many people would purchase for snowboarding, motorcycling, etc. Great!

sick!!!
maybe put a magnet in the thumb or something so that you don't need a magnet handy... just a thought

I wanted to isolate the magnet from the control hand to prevent inadvertent triggering (clenching hand during a fall). If I decide to make it, I'll include a pouch on the back of the other hand, and the armband as well. The snowboarding glove pictured actually has a magnet on top right above the pinky knuckle, which worked pretty well.

Well, would it work with iPhone and iPod touch? Does it work with other brands of MP3 Players? How do you connect it to the iPod, does it have something to do with that music?

I'm going to check iPhone compatibility tomorrow. This device would only work with Apple iPods, as the receiver connects through the bottom dock. The iPods in the video are connected to the speakers through the headphone jack (green plug) because I wanted to show that the ipod was not being controlled by the speakers's remote.

That is really awesome, do you plan on selling it?

I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it. I'm not sure how much people are willing to pay, and how much interest there actually is, and costs to get something like this going would probably cost a LOT. The magnetic reed switches are expensive ($5 each!) so if that makes it too expensive, I was thinking of replacing them with pushbutton switches, allowing it to still be easy to use, plus it would add haptic feedback. There's a lot of stuff I'd have to look into, but I'll keep you guys updated.
