The second troupe of the Kingston Trio (Bob Shane, Nick Reynolds, and John Stewart) sings an unusual adaptation of a West Indian spiritual that is often performed around Christmas time. Titled by the Trio in its arrangement as "Glorious Kingdom," it is from the 1961 album "Close Up."

  • Great piece. The Joyful Noise @ Foundry UMC in DC did this in worship a number of times (along w/other KT spirituals) in the '80s.

  • Good Lord, had forgotten about this one, ty for reminding me of it. Gonna suggest it to our chori director as a possible choir anthem, he has a good reach and could make it happen.
