Well thank god somebody posted this because it's one of my favourites too even though he's singing about a woman most of it applies to the one big love of my life [he did'nt wear dresses though. but the rest fits love it.

@GSmusic1 I like Pete Gabriel the most (IN your Eyes is Great and so is Shock the Monkey and DYI and Lamb Lies down, his MTV videos etc somewhat less so but still good) I didn't pay attention to Genesis so I don't know .. I guess the key is this song might be moving but doesn't move me enough and almost embarrasses me .. though I get into the soulfulness and minor crescendo effects and can understand why he moves you . Damn sorry to tear into your favorite. I'm so insensitive..

@GSmusic1 I can understand how all three of them can touch you but his lyrics are overdramatic for me (and the Jesus Christ reference odd to me..ha) and in his other videos he really can get over-dramatic .. embarrassingly so.. to me. I guess I am touched by some of this song but prefer the understated Paul Westerberg (of Replacements), Neil Young (song like Powderfinger and Old Man) , Marshall Crenshaw to name three too.

@11xzxzxz he wrote the song. I don't know why... but his music, his lyrics and just his personality touch me in a way I've never been touched before.... My heroes were Peter Gabriel and Chris de Burgh, but since Peter Gabriel, nobody has influenced me as much as Nick Cave

@GSmusic1 I thought that sound was pretty good but still nothing moves me enough. I heard an acoustic version by another that might be better. Book is still out and always will be, I guess. This song is good but I like the Them guitar. Is this a them song or did he write this?

@11xzxzxz I didn't like many of his songs either when I saw him for the first time... Now he's one of my biggest inspirations and I love more or less every song he ever wrote! Try to find "To be by your side", i love this song!!
