Interview with Dr Devdutt Pattanaik, Author of '7 Secrets from Hindu Calendar Art' (Westland), Chief Belief Officer, The Future Group, www.devdutt.com, April 22, 2009, 3.30 pm
Elaborating a little more on my previous comment - when you eliminate the bad person (like a terrorist), you don't hit the root cause of the problem. 10 more terrorists will rise up to retaliate against this one killing. And the cycle goes one. Christian scripture also state the same - kill the sin, not the sinner. And sin can only be eliminated by love and broad education - understanding all parties (in this case all religions), not just thinking mine is the right one - my world view.
Dear M1ST3RHYDE, Not sure what your point is. My point is agreeing with Mr. Pattnaik. i.e., the solution to eliminating bad (terrorism in this case) is not to just kill the terrorists. Or for that matter, same goes for the Islamic fundamentalists - by killing Americans, they can not get rid of war against them (in the long run. In the short run it may appear to work). This can only be achieved by eliminating the evil within us all. And the mythologies seem to state that again and again.
This statment rings with an emptyness. If you state for what reason "Obama needs to hear this" (or anyone for that matter) It may express meaning - Simple because its obvious nature .Everyone should hear as much insightfull views as they can. But it also depends on when they hear them, the same story told to a man 10 years after the first time (hopefully) will speak to them in a much different context.
Amazing point about pedestrian views - if you kill the bad people, the world will be good. This belief is the foundation of Americas's war against terror. Obama needs to hear this :-)
