Tori Amos covers Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat. The Fillmore at Jackie Gleason Theater, Miami Beach.

It's four in the morning, the end of December
I'm writing you now just to see if you're better
New York is cold, but I like where I'm living
There's music on Clinton Street all through the evening.

I hear that you're building your little house deep in the desert
You're living for nothing now, I hope you're keeping some kind of record.

Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear
Did you ever go clear?

Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older
Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder
You'd been to the station to meet every train
And you came home without Lili Marlene

And you treated my woman to a flake of your life
And when she came back she was nobody's wife.

Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth
One more thin gypsy thief
Well I see Jane's awake --
She sends her regards.

And what can I tell you my brother, my killer
What can I possibly say?
I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you
I'm glad you stood in my way.

If you ever come by here, for Jane or for me
Your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free.

Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes
I thought it was there for good so I never tried.

And Jane came by with a lock of your hair
She said that you gave it to her
That night that you planned to go clear

Sincerely, L. Cohen

  • I can't believe people would chat and laugh their ass off during a concert they paid to go see for an artist they supposedly like. It's disrespectful, not just to the artist but to the other spectators around them. Too bad Tori didn't boot their ass out of her concert.

  • stf up people who talk during tori playing

  • Am I the only one who finds her face very erotic here, especially with the 'mic' next to her mouth like that??

I think her version is very unsatisfying, compared to L. Cohen's. His is simple, raw and honest, while hers feels like she's trying to hard.

    and the audience: STFU!!

  • to Both of those who like and dislike this music try to remember that it is sound, for me beautiful but still at the end of the day sound, comments both in support and demise are really to no avail if you do not like it don't listen to it if you do listen away

  • @jbearden you are just an angry old man

  • @jbearden

Your comment is highly offensive. No one is making you listen to this song. If you don't like it, STFU and leave. And I definitely know the difference between Leonard Cohen, William Shakespeare, and Tori Amos. So get your troll ass out of here.

  • @jbearden I've heard her records. I hear a lot of fucking records. I think Tori Amos is not that going to ever be Kate Bush. But then again, you may not listen to Kate Bush. I don't really care, and you don't really care, because it doesn't matter.

  • @jbearden Believe me, I love Cohen, he is like the best after Shakespeare to me... So also believe me, that Tori is the same - only female..! Listen to her songs and you will agree. And you'll never say sth like this again..

  • @greenmonkeyfr disrespect is what she did to this song.

  • great love it from RobotRuss

  • красиво молодец))))))))))))
