@hjb103055 Released, yes, but it went into production after after Gone With the Wind.

@blowupyes Jezebel came out first. Look up Bette Davis's biography on the internet and click on

@TudorRose85 This was based on a play that came out AFTER the book Gone with the Wind; and boy, I'm glad she didn't play Scarlett! Vivien Leigh was the best choice for that role and Davis was best for this one.

@TudorRose85 That is not entirely true. Her studio wanted to lend both her and Errol Flynn for Gone With The Wind. She disapproved of Flynn and tried to convince her studio to change their minds, but they wouldn't. So, she didn't get the role. She was given the role of Jezebel as a "consolation".

@LaurenWhizzle i know, I know.

@fashionhistorylover lol but whipped tho?
-
@fashionhistorylover I disliked her the whole movie.

Rarely has an Oscar been awarded so deservedly.
-
@LaurenWhizzle To be honest there were parts in the movie that she was that annoying.

0:50 when she should have been whipped.....lmao wow, so dated.
For Heaven's sake--the overlay says "A woman who was loved--
When she should have been whipped!"
For one thing, this shows a dreadful lack of political correctness (of course PC wasn't an issue then), and for another, Bette could whip anyone's.

This is probably Bette Davis' best movie.
There is a great scene in the beginning of this movie where she comes riding up to her house on this wildly excited horse. She did her own riding in that scene (on a cobblestone street, no less). She could have easily broken her neck because she wasn't an experienced horsewoman. But that's the way Bette Davis did things. With determination and bravado. And this made her performances shine above all others.
"Praise be Miss Julie!".....
