AmpmobilesConversions.com converts cars to run on battery power. Do you know someone who works on cars (body repair)? Using their skills, they can convert a car to run on a post-petroleum fuel.
when I make mines its going to use deep cycle minh SLA mini 12 v batteries 4 of those equals 1 or those bigger ones so 4 12 v batteries will give me optimal range I need for regular daily commutes 30 miles to one charge is pittaful..
@runswithscissorsalot: GM made an electric car. It was a hit.. however they claimed to not make enough money and claimed there wasn't enough demand despite there being a huge demand. Basically it boiled down to the fact electric cars cost less to maintain. Apparently a lot of the money a car company gets comes from car maintenance. Google (or YouTube) GM EV1 and watch the movie "Who Killed The Electric Car".
I'm not a scientist on how many you would need, I would assume if you want it to last a long time, you would want to find a low amperage battery and buy a lot of them. The other sweet thing about lithium is that it charges much faster. If you want a electric car that goes 0-60 in 6-7 seconds, you might want to look into the AC motors They have more horsepower and tend to be softer on transmissions (cheap motors may be strong but they destroy transmissions)
well the bigness of the battery doesnt make the differents, if you want a fast car you need available energy which means a battery with contacts that are designed for that. Lithium ion is straight out the best technology in batteries that is marketed. For example the tesla roadster I think goes up to 140, 0-60 in under 4 seconds all electric, but it is 100,000 to buy. That roadster is equipped with many small lithium batteries.

This is amazing. I'd have to get an electric car or convert one soon.

If you have to ask, well...
How much does a conversion like this one cost?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
If you'd shut the fuck up, maybe we could hear the volume levels in the bloody car!

I know you can buy aftermarket knock off lithium batteries for devices like cell phones super cheap on ebay... (2-3$)

ok so how the fuck do we get cheap lithium ion batteries because that is the key obviously. where can we get them cheap?
btw how big are the batteries themselves? size of a cell phone one?
btw how many batteries would one need and let's say I only want my top speed to be
90mph and 0-60 in 6-7 seconds.
and where do I get them cheap. post urls, etc.
thanks

okay didn't know that. so smaller are the lithium ion???? I thought they made big lithium ion as well. hmm
