Popular musical conventions of the day include autotuning, remixing, and sampling older, more "vintage" music into the backgrounds of newer tracks. France's darling six-piece, Caravan Palace, has taken the idea of reinventing old styles and rebuilt it on a new landscape, performing original electro-swing tracks that mix swing styled guitar neo-pageantry with electronic party-pop to create a hopelessly happy and upbeat atmosphere. Their live show and musicianship are unparalleled by modern day acts of the same intention, and crowds worldwide have been won over by the overall positivism that comes from swing- the original dance music- and Caravan Palace's blend of the genre with samplings of house and electro.

The group has recently announced a slew of dates for their North America this summer as well as the re-release of their acclaimed studio album, Panic, on June 24. The new issue of the album will include four bonus tracks, including a remix of "Clash," by electro-pop duo Jupiter. (stream below).

Ahahaha yea, okay dude, I'm sure lots of people are totally upset that black culture is being 'ruined' here. Last I checked the techno remixes of classical piano/orchestra pieces didn't undermine the classical period itself.

Funny that this is just another example of white people copying black culture, and totally ruining it.

Bennie Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie... all originals part of an era of real musicians who produced LIVE on the spot renditions of their songs, complete with improvised solo sections. Not regurgitating something someone did decades before in a mechanical looped and sequenced way.

Sampling and improvisation are as old as music. The idea that a collage or a collection of samples can be devoid of artistic merit is disagreed upon by a large portion of the population. But, similar to how many can’t appreciate Warhol’s work, my response is the same. Just because you can’t appreciate it in no way means that others’ can’t. Who are you to judge what has artistic value for others? Get over yourself.
