David Roberts is staff writer at Grist.org. In "Climate Change is Simple" he describes the causes and effects of climate change in blunt, plain terms.

On April 16, 2012, speakers and attendees gathered at TEDxTheEvergreenStateCollege: Hello Climate Change to reflect on the ability -- and responsibility -- of formal and informal education to inspire and empower action in this era of climate change.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Delusional people should just keep quiet. You were created by your parents, who's parents created them, etc. Please read up on facts like Evolution. While you are at it, please put the fairytale holy book down for a bit and read some non-fiction. The Earth is 4.5 billion yrs old, with creatures that are made of eukaryotic cells( like you) being around for almost half of that time. Before that, just unicellular Prokaryotic organisms. Oh ya, who or what is this "creator".

Look if we do something to stop the use of fossil fuels today we will have more for later use. If we need it. We are spending the capital in our savings accounts, and screaming that we should spend more, but you only get so much, then you live on grass and dirt because you are penniless. Why is it so hard to not waste things on this planet for some people? If it gets warmer people just think, oh cool, miami beach in greenland, but if greenland is warm, miami is underwater.

Ok to be fair i will ask that you name 100 scientist you know of? Actually i do believe we are causing issues for the planet( not destroying by any means) but i also see and agenda behind the climate change alarmist hysteria. Look forward to hearing the 100 or so scientists you take advice from.

Open your eyes. 97% of scientists agree that we are causing climate change. That is what these people are educated in, and what they spend their entire lives studying. It is SCIENCE. I am not an expert by any means, but I am going to listen to what people who actually know what they're talking about when it comes to climate change, and not ignorant hacks like you.

Where are the facts and evidence in this presentation . All i could see was scare mongering once again. By someone who has not expertise to comment on the matter of the climate changing.

Just scare tactics. He mentions feedbacks briefly but this is the area where the climate scientists have virtually no idea on. The best scientific evidence is that excess water vapour leans towards being a negative feedback! If negative, then we have absolutely nothing to worry about. I can tell scary bedtime stories too. But as

    The year 2300? Yawn. 2100? Uh-huh.

How about you tell us what we, or our children or our grandchildren (as appropriate) are likely to face? That's all there's any chance of our responding to.

Constantly talking about remote dates in the future is the ongoing curse of climate change discussion. Make it about sooner. Make it personal!

Well done, David: very clear. However, simply look around you at what is happening in the world. It matters not what I/you/we say: nothing will change...
