My 1965 Chevelle project sat unfinished for 12 years. Here is a short video of the engine starting and running a bit shortly after I got it running again after a long rest. Shortly after this video was shot it went to the body shop for final paint.

  • sweet! i had a '68 300 chevelle L79 years ago. one of chevrolets best small blocks. well tuned and driven, they would beat a 396/350hp.

  • There have been bigger and more powerful small blocks, but none better! The L79 is definitely one of their best efforts. But then, I might be biased!

  • I owned a '66 Nova (white with red interior)with the L-79 engine (327-350HP). This video sure brings back memories.

  • Glad you liked the video. Check out my other videos and go for a ride in the same car.

  • 12yr old gas? LOL

  • No, actually, I had installed a new gas tank and therefore new gas.

  • I let my truck sit for 11 years, and it was like replace this, replace that, jiggle this, test that.... aaaaaannnnnddddd theeeeen..... it didn't start for 2 weeks. lol

  • @richnat , I'm pretty sold on the newer LS series small blocks since all the aftermarket parts are available now, not the only reason. Had a 2000 LS1 that only had a Lunati cam & springs, SLP exhaust, that very much woke me up to the fact the LS series motors are not to be ignored. All this coming from somebody who is sold on flathead fords too, so take it for what it's worth I guess.

  • oh trust me they will

my old 56 sat for almost 20 years and all i had to do was poor gas in the carb and some wd40 to help it out and it started up fine

  • read the description before ya comment

  • Yeah I agree, Ill bet it ran the day before he made the vid lol

  • LT-1 was pretty badass, 370 hp in the vette

  • there is no way a v8 is going to start up that easy after sitting up for that long, the gas would have gone bad anyway.
