  • @TheUSAisgreat

The slaves sang it and the sailors picked it up and brought it home. I didn't think the original lyrics were in English though.

  • Listen to that, a true nation supporting their team. TAKE THAT NEW ZEALAND

  • how did you take your refrigirator to the stadium? :P

  • Fuck Stoke City!!

  • @DoughnutMan01 Actually the slaves in America sang this as a code to the slaves escaping in the underground rail road. They gave messages through songs like this.

  • @PretentiousPainters English and stuff? urmm.. its just the English, and no 'God Save Our Queen' is however more people believe it should be Jerusalem, a old english hymn, as for swing low, its was what the ship mates sang when the took slaves over to america :)

  • Its great that the English and stuff are singing this but why, its not you national anthem is it.?? is it just a old song you were all bought up with or somthing.

  • @Borofalcon08 The song was written at Fisk University, Nashville TN. (a mostly African American institution), in 1909, long after slavery. Btw, I'm African American, and I don't know where you got your history from! When I first heard English sports fans singing it, it was a little wierd, but kinda neat.

  • For the (Rugby) World Cup, this should be England's National Anthem.

  • @sonofboudicca Wiser words were never spoken
