Gordon Waite is starting a new project: grinding, polishing and figuring a 20" f/3.5 mirror on a quartz blank. Before he starts grinding this fast primary, Gordon measures the weight, diameter and thickness of the blank. Then he uses the Strasbaugh computer-controlled spherometer to measure the radius of curvature at various points on the surface of the quartz blank. Finally, you'll see the 6" ceramic tile tool that will be used for rough grinding.
