  • Where would we by without Pythgoras? That's what it's based on Steve. 3:4:5

And it's a darn good use of the theorum.

    Regards

    Woodrow Lister

  • It's not so much Pythagoras as Thales. He was the first recognized Greek philosopher and it was he who proved that the angles of a triangle always add up to 180.

I might remake this film (it was the first one, just an hour or two after buying the camera, which is why the colour balance and general production is so poor) and include an explanation of the mathematics.

  • Steve, that's a great idea. I never would have thought of it. After seeing it though, I realize that it uses the same principle of geometry that core box planes exploit to cut a semi-circular trough with a plane whose sole and blade are made to cut a 2 sided groove with a ninety degree angle at the bottom. That same principle allows you to draw a semi-circle with 2 nails and a framing square.

I need to make a couple of those.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Ive never seen that before or heard of the device. Now Im going to make one also.

    Thanks... again Steve :)

  • I think I'm with every one else when I say I'm going to make one of those, maby more like 3 that would be cool different sizes and stuff

  • This is a really useful tool Steve. Thank you for demonstrating this so clearly. I will have a few of these in short order. Keep it coming mate.

  • Wow - I gotta make one myself now. Thanks!

  • I have to say that is a very clever idea!

    Thank you.

  • Thanks! Very informative and useful. I am a beginning woodworker, but I will remember this!!! Nicely done video on a useful subject
