Let's hope that this stays up for a while. Hello everyone, if you are watching this, then I have succeeded in replacing this epic memorial on youtube.

As a recap, if you haven't watched any of my other We Are Marshall videos, I have been personally touched by this story of grief and redemption. My father's brother was a member of the Marshall varsity football team in 1970. On November 14th, there was a tragic accident as the team was returning home from a game with East Carolina. My Uncle Stuart, along with teammates, coaches, and members of staff and community, perished when their plane crashed.

My father was very little when this happened, but his testimony, along with all the others I have gathered with my videos of people who knew about or was there at the time, have reached me and my generation. It is a compelling story of grief, sorrow, and pain. But pain that spurred the university on to be great again. They didn't give up, they moved on in memory of their loved ones.

This is my first tribute to Marshall, and perhaps my best. No song can express the pain as these simple lines. I still cry when I watch this. I own nothing, except the creativity behind it. Please watch and remember; remember those who passed, those we loved, those we will never see again. And remember those who continued, who triumphed, and who live on. Thank you, for keeping them in your memories, and in your hearts.

I never met my uncle, but I will.

"Goodbye my friend."

"We Are Marshall" belongs to Warner Brothers Inc, and the song to its respective owner.

  • I'm really proud that i was able to find such a jewell on youtube.

I play American Football, i'm 15 and i live in London (England).

I play for London Blitz and recently i've been promoted to the 17-19 team to play quarterback

Stories like this and people like your uncle inspire me to play the sport which is literally half the world away.

It's always going to be the best sport to me, everybody should be able to take something from it, thank you for making this video

  • @Jaba9000 Thank you very much, it means a lot to me. :) Continue to have fun and play hard! It's really heartwarming to know that my Uncle's story can inspire others. :) GO LONDON BLITZ! :D

  • Your uncle Stuart was so handsome. He'll always be young and handsome. What a wonderful way to remember him. I was only 5 years old when this happened and living in Oklahoma. I couldn't fully understand the impact until I was grown. It's always the individuals inside the tragedy that bring you to tears.

  • @galveston Thank you! I love the comment. It's always the individuals that bring the impact home. You can say, oh yeah, it was tragic that the whole team died, but when you see each person's suffering, it really makes you understand it. It helps you connect to the story.

  • i'm so sorry about your uncle sweetie!

i loved this video...it's so awesome that u made a video dedicated to someone u never even met but it seems like u knew him ur whole life time with just this video. faves and it deserves way more than just 5 stars.

  • Aww, you're really sweet. =D My dad told me about my uncle growing up, and when the movie was being made, the went all out. The baseball field in our town is even named after him. It's very touching.

  • Hello my friend.. i've watched the video several times, but never had any relation to either Marshall or Football.. But everytime i watch this movie, i cant help it i just cry. Imagining myself in this situation if i lost all my friends from my soccer team in such a tragedy, standing back with nothing. just emptyness. I want you to know that i feel sorry for your loss and wish you all luck in the future!

    We Are! Marshall!

  • Wonderful tribute video! I'm sorry your family (and all the others) had to suffer through such a tragedy!

  • That is an absolutely lovely tribute. I saw this movie a couple of days ago and it's still on my mind. I was a baby when the actual event happened, but I remember my grandad talking about - he was a huge football fan. I'm still thinking about football and what it is about it that evokes so much intense emotion - more than any other sport, it seems. What do you think?

  • Bow! Rest in peace!

  • They are gone, but they will never be forgotten.

  • Well done!

  • I had the privilege to interview your dad on the internet on Nov. 14, 2009. We paid tribute to your uncle with a local sports writer, your dad and a former teammate and friend. One of Stuart's best friends called from Atlanta and told us how Stuart tried to get him to come play at Marshall. I will never forget 7th grade gym classes at Eustis High that Stuart was the coaches helper. I again plan a tribute on Nov. 12, 2011 on my790am.com WLBE 790am on The Lake County Sports Show noon-2pm.

  • @Sessylove93 Another beautiful tribute to your uncle and Marshall University. Huntington, WV is my hometown and I graduated from MU. I was only nine years old when this happened, yet I can remember it as if it were yesterday. This tragedy cast a dark cloud over the city of Huntington...one which to this day has not completely disappeared. RIP to your Uncle Stuart and the remaining lives lost...
