A little mishap while pouring aluminum metal into a cold ingot. So this had happened, which rarely does, maybe 1/1000 times at lab.

Always wear proper safety equipment! Like don't do what I did and not wear a face shield, I was lucky enough not to get the metal popped on my face.

there are only 2 ways liquid aluminum explodes violently like that. i currently work in an aluminum foundry either there was a very small amount of moisture present in the mold or the mold was too cold. i have personally seen and experienced an explosion in a ladle that holds 25 pounds of liquid aluminum which we average at about 1450 degrees F, think about that folks! yeah owie

even if you prewarm the molds, it still could explode, because of the oxides in the mold, if you dont clean it it will explode

1000 C is too low a temperature for it to look white, however, interesntingly enough, the color of the glow does not depend on the material. Aluminum or not, any material will shine the same way at the same temperature.
