Shih Tzu dog gives birth, first has an empty sac...

When a dog whelps, there may be an empty sac included in the litter. (like in the video). They can come at any time, but usually come first. The sac will not create a bulge behind the vulva and will show as a pinched small ballon of any color. If you believe this is what you are seeing you should be able to pinch it in your fingers and squish it. If this is the case get the scissors and pop it open. Your dam will not be able to deliver it and the puppies behind it could suffer. Once it is popped, liquid will pour out and the next puppy could arrive in seconds or minutes. In my situation, it took another minute before the first puppy came out. He was breached. Check the next video to see what happened

This is the amniotic sac. EVERY puppy is inside one. There is one for each puppy in the litter.
