Gypsies are a culture not native to Europe- their origins are from Asia. Even if in different European countries, gypsies are one nation. However, integration -merging with European cultures, has left no resemblance to their origins- it's reflected on how they express themselves artistically. The gypsies of Spain are culturally stronger and world-widely known. Flamenco the music they evolved with is one of Spain's folk traditions (not the only one, there are others: Basque, Celtic, Catalonian).

@Nauticalman well you're right to your opinion and your decisions. How you play your music is very much up to you. But it's also up to other people if they like and are passionate about flamenco. I like flamenco guitar music. The Spanish guitar is the original guitar. It's THE ONE for me it's sound is sooth but very deep as if it plays from the heart or the soul! However, people confuse things -not everything in flamenco is gypsy or gitane -in fact flamenco means Spanish Andalucian.

They are French Gypsies from the south of France. This style is called Rhumba which is not to be confused with Rumba from Argentina.
