heifetz ; the best of the universe nothing better than he

@OEDBrowser Ricci was the best in the 50's & 60's. Listen to his latest release on Deutsche Grammaphon in memoriam to Kreisler. He was absolutely amazing as a violinist! He will stand out with time as being one of the True Masters of the instrument. He has a wide range of recordings in quality, but at his best...he is the best!!

@Gallipoli717 I have only heard Ricci recently and certainly in my opinion is up there with best !- Rabin., Menuhin ., Heifetz ! There is very little between them at this exalted level ! Opinions are by nature subjective but taking that into account , I feel that Menuhin's version whilst perfectly articulated , sounds somewhat speeded up ! it just sound too fast . Time for Menuhin's version is also the shortest , whether he played the full version or not !!

@RichieLeone Really where do you get this from?
-
This is by far and away the most astonishing, technically perfect recording of Paganini's Moto Perpetuo ever made by any string musician. Period.
-
i wish there were a better recording of Jascha Heifetz playing this pice
-
heifitz is the greatest on good records but the man who composed this piece - Paganini - could reputedly play this piece on one(!) string!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pretty much everything he recorded in his teens and 20's was and still is the best ever. inhuman technical perfection and impeccable taste and style. his later recordings aren't exactly chopped liver, either.
