A ride through Kingston, on a rainy november sunday afternoon, with my brother Seymour.
Downtown, Tivoli Gardens, Rema, Trenchtown, Arnette Gardens, Maxfield avenue, Back Toe, Riverton city, Greenwich Town... places where tourist guidebooks won't advise you to go, but this is the reality of many Kingstonians...
With some roots masterpieces to match the pictures...

  • big all mi ghetto youts yuh dun kno a better dayz fi come

  • @pennyredfern During the early 70s Manley was prime minister. He tried to bring communism to the country and told the middle class if they didn't like it the could leave & there were 5 flights a day to Miami & they did just that-they left in droves. He also brought guns into the country so Seaga-leader of the opposition -brought in guns too to win elections and now you can see the effect it has on these communities

  • @pennyredfern how they ruined this country? can you tell me more?

  • Can you imagine what Jamaica would be like today if Michael Manley and Seaga hadn't ruined the country. Over 40 yrs later and downtown is an eyesore. It's really painful to watch

  • Nice video. I enjoyed the ride. I grew up in Arnette Gardens. The place does not make the violence, it is the very few that feed of the people's fear. These places should not be feared just understood. Nuff respect for making this one.

  • this video makes me wanna go to JA more than ever

  • Great video. My dad was a physician at the free clinic run by the Jesuits in Denham Town, and he often talked about the poverty--he himself was raised in the "Dungle". A lot of the people that left Jamaica between 1962 and 1975 because of the political violence and corruption were manufacturers and other entrepreneurs who could have provided jobs and economic improvement. Your taxi driver was a very brave man!

  • Best video to date showing Kingston 12 and 13.

Top-notch videography, captions and musical selections!

I say give your taxi driver a Medal of Valour/Valor

for having the guts to drive through Rema, Arnett Gardes /Concrete Jungle and Greenwich Town.

I now use a map to place them in perspective with areas in Kingston

    that are familiar to me.

Places that I only heard about but never dared to set foot in..

Pools of potential and creativity have become war zones,

    with no end in sight.

  • Heavy

  • Top notch selection to accompany a fascinating drive 'bout town
