Canadiens sign Johansson to one-year deal

MONTREAL (AP) — The Montreal Canadiens have signed Swedish forward Mikael Johansson to a one-year contract.

The 23-year-old Johansson signed as a free agent, agreeing to terms on a two-way contract with Montreal after spending the past four seasons with Farjestads BK Karlstad of the Swedish Elite League.

The 5-foot-10 center had six goals and a team-high 28 assists in 49 regular-season games. He added a goal and three assists in 11 playoff games to help lead Farjestads to the Swedish title.

Chosen 289th overall by Detroit in the 2003 draft, Johansson never played for the Red Wings.

En 2008-2009, Johansson a remporté le championnat de la Ligue élite suédoise avec le Farjestads BK Karlstad.

Il a récolté quatre points (1 but, 3 passes) en 11 rencontres éliminatoires.

Âgé de 23 ans, Johansson a disputé en 2008-2009 une quatrième saison dans la Ligue élite suédoise. Le
joueur de centre de 5 pieds 10 pouces, 181 livres, a mené les siens avec 28 mentions daide, récoltant 34 points (dont six buts) en 49 matchs de saison régulière.

En 2007-2008, Johansson a inscrit 39 points (15 buts, 24 passes) et 80 minutes de pénalité en 53 matchs de
saison régulière avec le Farjestads BK Karlstad, avant de conclure les séries éliminatoires au deuxième rang de sa
formation avec neuf points (4 buts, 5 passes) en 11 rencontres.

Johansson a été sélectionné en neuvième ronde par les Red Wings de Detroit, 289e au total lors du repêchage
de la LNH en 2003.

Your're an idiot...The Canadians weren't doing good last year??? then why did they lead the first half of the season they were first in the East then around 3rd and dropped only in the last end of the season...and ya Lang had almost 40 points before he went out and was leading the Canadians in points...We do need size since Souray and Rivet left but our talent isn't too easy to stop when they are all working together

@jmiller006 FYI, if Bruins fans use injuries as an excuse this season and Habs fans laugh it off, they are just being asses, just like the Bruins fans who laughed off the Habs injuries last season. Bruins lost arguably their best forward and key player Savard in the final stretch. Lucic and Chara have been injured all year, and add to that Ference, Stuart, Bergeron, Sturm missing time too. The curse of the North East + Eastern Conference winners strike for a 3rd straight season.
