I was invited to work at the Antonio Canova exhibition (Bassano/Italy/2003) doing the video installations for it. I used the opportunity to create a narrative film about one period of his life when he travelled around Italy on a personal research to find the great renascence sculptors that preceded him. The film follows an impossible path made 224 years ago by the young Canova. He searched for the wonders created by his masters, and by the masters of his masters. The trip is guided by a conversation between the nuclear warrior and the pacifist. This film is dedicated to my friend, the poet and film maker Sergio Borges.
Antonio Canova was born on November 1st, 1757 in Possagno at Veneto region. From childhood, he showed himself to be very able at sculpture and end up being one of the most famous sculptors of all times.
