This video is a tribute to the great French luteplayer and composer René Saman (fl 1610-31). He was a musician to Louis XIII. Several courantes by him are included in 17th-century collections of lute music. Three are present in Robert Dowlands "Varietie of Lute-Lessons, 1610".
We have two beautiful cherry trees in our town. Every year at this time they blossom as beautiful as on this video. You should see them both in real this spring!

  • absolutely beautiful. i can scarcely find the words to describe this. beyond belief, to call this absolutely beautiful would be an insult. truly moving.

  • Excellent ! I will play it too, some of these days ! The funny thing is that the graces, the ornementations are not in the tablature and that lute players are, as far as I know, totally free to play them where they find it nice.

    Great thanks ! Congratulations !
