Yeah, I was gunner on that aircraft, sorry, the confusion was not on our part. Controller didn't know the guns were hot, I saw the crew waving us off, if it was any other pilot besides our senior instructor pilot, we'd have been toast. cool2bme1, were you on that crew, or at the FARP? Me and the gun crew joked about it afterwards, but only after a thorough investigation.

@KDMills709 Brother, I'm good with it! I know exactly which pilot you're talking about, it isn't the first time she did something like that. I got to chat with the crew a few weeks later, not sure if you were one of them, but there were absolutely no hard feelings, not on the enlisted side, anyway. For my end, I knew you guys waited until we were out of the GTL, and I'm glad we didn't ruin the fire mission, and no one (but the enemy) got hurt.

@alemons210 Well I was on that holitzer at the exact moment that all happened. and the TOC told that pilot the LZ was hot and to circle the river to our south and wait until the LZ was green. Pilot showed up to throw complaints, but was told she had better get back on that bird and leave. Situational awareness!! Abad 8Feb06-28May07.

That was my platoon shooting that round, the bird was very lucky that day. The video serves no justice, from the gun pit it was only about 15 feet from impact.
