A constant of the protests in Greece is the Loukanikos the Riot Dog, whose name means "Sausage" in Greek. This dog, who has been sighted at protests since 2008, apparently has no fear of tear gas, loud explosions, crowds, riot police or fire and is known across the world.

Loukanikos is apparently the successor to Kanellos, the original Greek Riot Dog who passed away in 2005.

It's not clear who exactly owns Loukanikos, how old he is or what attracts him to these apocalyptic street battles between police and protestors. What is certain is that he loves tear gas. And barking at riot police.

  • marvintheboon cheers from greece and --ΛΟΥΚΑΝΙΚΟΣ-- in greek

  • @texniki1 thank you, we are about to go through austerity here, with guns!

  • It's the reincarnation of Alexandros (might be misspelled).

  • @AllesOnderControle i actually mentioned that I believed this pup is the reincarnate of a fallen warrior, I edited it out, I have to tailor my thoughts for youtube sometimes. I shouldn't do it, but the onslaught of comments from people who don't really understand history gets to me a wee bit. Animals have a weird aura about them, my older dog is filling the role of a dog I had back in the 80's, like he never left. My younger dog picks up on it too. I am a believer.

    good comment, thanks..

  • Loukanikos is one cool kat :)

  • @fredhart did you get a chance to watch the link, this is a serious dog.
