Ian Cairns won 1st place at Laniakea in 1973 on a three fin surfboard. With such deep respect to Simon Anderson.. It was not the first board of its kind. I was There. I also surfed J bay, Sunset and Shark Island with Simon. He will always be one of my top 5 favorite surfers. My name is Davey Miller.

simon was my hero in 81! and is still high on my list. i was still riding a jeff crawford single, the thruster changed my surfing life.

Wow - what a gas. I was there at Bells in '81, and just did a search to see if someone had the footage. Thanks a bunch for some great memories of a great day!
