I have a 99 also, so the items should be in the same place. I have the shop manual for my car, but the pics never look like what you're looking at under the hood. I thought, well, just follow the vacuum hose. Well, there are 90 of them under the hood. Daaah? Dumb question here. Is the right side the driver's side or passenger's side? I never know if it's while I'm sitting in the car or standing in front of it. (It would be different sides then). Even the book says left & right. Drives me nuts.

Haven't tried that, but it's worth a shot.

As for the purge valve/canister, i'm not quite sure where it is on that particular year but on my '99 its was near the spring mount on the right hand side of the car. there is a chance that both the canister and the purge valve are faulty but try the valve first. the actual valve is not near the canister. all u need are pliars for the brackets and a screw driver for the wire connector pin.

Have you tried to leave the gas cap a little loose? It might fool the computer into thinking everything is okay.

Hey, glad to help, and of course, take money out of Hyundai's pockets. Wow, you've got 5,000 miles more than I do, and I've had all kinds of problems with the air-pollution crap. It just cost me $600.00 to get the check engine light out, and now it's back on. Grrrrrr. And you've only replaced 2 regulators? Hell, I've replaced 9 of them. I've gotta get my check engine light fixed again. It is code PO441, which says purge valve open. Now, if I could just FIND the purge valve to fix it myself.

You the MAN!!! I was sooo close to giving up and paying clowns at Hyundai for it. But now know I can do it... As for Hyundais being pieces of poop, my 99 has 137,000 on it and other that some universal boots, and the customary timing belt changes, it has been pretty good. That said, this is the second regulator to be replaced.

I just sent you a private email to tell you how to remove the panel. It's time consuming, but pretty easy. You should be able to pop it off in 15 - 20 minutes. Now mine has an oil leak. I'm finding drops of oil on the driveway. Funny, it didn't leak until I had the valve cover gasket replaced a couple of months ago. I wonder if there's a connection?

Hey LazyComic,
I loved your youtube rant. I own a 2000 Elantra. Pure piece of sh*t, just like you said. The dealers are all @sses too.
My Window regulator is broken (again) and I want to fix it myself this time. Do you have a video that shows how to take off the door panel? I saw your video on removing and installing the regulator. So, I need the prelude to those videos.
Thanks,
Fellow American

Everything? Noob... never heard that term, but I like it. If you don't need the regulator, I'm assuming what you need is the glass? Depending on the year of your car, I'd try a junk yard for that. If you need any other stuff, I'd get that there too. Sometimes, it's just easier to replace the whole door. If you do that, don't forget to change out the lock assembly so your key will work. That's actually pretty easy. Can be done in an afternoon.

My VW Golf's front driver door is missing everything!!! I am a noob at this stuff, and I live in a small town with no VW dealer. What do i need to install a crankshaft window glass (other than buying the window regulator)? Plz help listing the items down! I need to make decisions soon. Thanks.

Cool... and thanks. The job isn't that bad. You'd spend more time at the garage than it actually takes to fix the window. Cheers to you for doing it yourself.

The video was fun to do, and has helped a lot of people on the repair. I did mention greasing the cable in the video. Not sure what would be cool to grease the tracks with though, since it would end up on the glass. My cable never breaks, it's always those cheap ass plastic pieces the cable loops through. Haven't figured out how to rig those to save the hundred bucks. If I do, I'll let you all know.

Great video. Thanks. I have an Hyudai Accent & have gone through 3 in 5 years. My tip is to grease the cables & also the tracks... never use the windows when they're frozen. It's possible to buy cables but it's tricky to fit them with the right tension (they're not supplied by Hyundai). Thanks Again.

cheers for the demonstration ,i have a hyundai accent ,i am now on my 2nd window regulatorin 5 years...i like you didnt use the garage, they wanted £65 to fit it took me about an hour aswell
Thanks! :) I don't care if repairing the window takes an entire day, it's worth every penny saved not paying someone else to do it. These videos (and knowing what size wrench to borrow/buy) have already saved me a ton in aggravation, too.
My car's an '00, so not under warranty anymore, but anyone know if the regulators were ever part of the 100k miles/10 years warranty? Guessing Hyundai would go broke if they were, but ya never know.

@unmemorableusername I am glad the video helped you out. I don't know of another one like this on the net that takes you step by step and tells you what tools to use. I was just so pissed off with Hyundai, I was bound & determined to make sure they got no money. There is a website called 1-A Automotive... or A-1 Automotive. Either way, check them out. I just had to buy ANOTHER regulator. They had after market one for $47.00 and that included free shipping. Good luck.

Great videos, I have a Hyundai Accent XE which uses the exact system and as you may guess the power window is broken. I'm gonna repair it tomorrow.
Thanks for the guidance

Glad the videos helped you on this. That is exactly why I made them, so you could do the job yourself, save a bunch of cash, and screw the dealers out of hundreds. (Ain't it great)?!!! Good luck with your project. shoot a message back and let us all know how you did and how it turned out.

I removed the broken part and the plastic part in the top was broken and the cable was snapped.
Then, I went to a Bosch dealer located nearby. They said they have it only with the motor and the set costs 120 euros. Now I'm looking for the regulator without the motor. The Hyundai prices of parts at hyundai dealers are about 10 to 20 percent higher than the regular car parts stores so if I don't find a used one I won't be buying the part from Hyundai anyways. Thanks again.

Try ebay for the regulator. The always have a bunch of them for sale... with and without the motors... and buying them on ebay is WAY cheaper than the dealer.
