The first 5 minutes of the 2004 film "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" edited by me to look like a silent film. Uses Gottfried Huppertz's original 1927 score to Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", as featured on the 'Eureka Masters of Cinema' DVD of that film.

  • Definitely one of the most underrated movies of the 2000's - great story line, acting, visual effects. Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow were brilliant screen couple.

This movie was as underrated as The Shadow, The Rocketeer, Dark City...

  • Hint: adjust the color on your TV to see the whole film in B&W! ;)

  • @kvn8907 Oh you mean the time when this film was made. Ok but still can't we look past the limitations of the special effects of the age, even so they were very good for the time.

  • @philipbabb Not MY period, THE period!

  • @kvn8907 Well now how could you enjoy the film if your only reason to see it was to complete homework? I don't want to offend but since you stated in your comment that you where on your period at the time, I have to wonder if it truely wasn't a factor.

  • Very Cool. Good work!

  • @kvn8907 Of course I disagree, I've seen the film two times and still amazes me.

  • Cool video - well made, but I just have one thing to say.

Metropolis sucked. I know I'll get voted down, and I know people will say "Oh, it's the period!" or something (It Happened One Night was from the same period, give or take, and that didn't suck) but I had to watch it in Sci-Fi Issues class, and it was a terribly made movie in pretty much every sense, except maybe the visuals in a scene or two.

  • @trylonperisphere That's the only way I watch it.

  • @roaringrockets it's ok...nobody told you you needed to have an attention span to enter this zone.

  • SNORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow! The monochrome, the dramatic music and the absence of spoken dialogue underscore the visual style and strength of this film.

Very clever idea--I would like to see a silent version of the whole thing!
