ok, I hope you're just joking around, but that is a really bad idea with electronic equipment...

The Patriot 32 SATA II at newegg selling $90 after rebate. advertise read 175mb/s and write 100mb/s. it is seem pretty fast to me. But I do'nt know is it slc or mlc. I don't need a lot of space, just enough for the OS, and the rest of my stuffs go to my raptor WD 300gig. Spending $400 on a hard drive for a $500 laptop is ridiculous. Beside I build a new full system every year so.

also, careful how you handle the standard hard drive. you appeared to be putting some pressure on the top (where the label is).

How was the performance after install? I want to know more about how much longer it will stay on battery and if you got any better performance.

even the intell ones?

yeah sorry, i ment the 40bg, thats what i got atm, so far so good! gonna install xp tho. So the hardrive can be upgraded, only it what ever i put in will have to fit the mini pcie connection? Still havent opened up my machine, i ought to have a look inside :P

WinXP is running terribly slow on MLC drives. Look into the forums for Users with an ASUS EeePC 900A with Windows installed on it.

the specs are telling it is probably a SLC.

Wow, like that? Hmmwow what a coincidence. I was just reading about flash memory yesterday! No way! I am so gonna design these babys when i grow up or CPU's or whatevsi think i'll work for Intel!

Like flash memory, basically it consists of LARGE NUMBERS of tiny on/off switches
does anybody know if the hard drive on the 20gb ssd linux version can be upgraded? Do the ssd and hdd models use the same chassis? Or does the ssd version have the hard drive built into the chassis and is un-movable? thanks

The 20gb ssd linux (I want to say that it's a 40gig) can be upgraded but while both the 1000 and the 1000H share the same chasis, the hard drives are different.
1000 - Has a mini-pcie input
1000H - Has a SATA input (More options)
The 1000 already comes with a hard drive with no moving parts, but its significantly slower than what I have, for example.

I can't afford SSD SLC, but the MLC is much cheap and provide same funnction, maybe a little bit slower. Would you recommend MLC for a budget SSD drive?

I would strongly recommend that you save up or wait a while until MLC drives are better.
As far as recommendations, what is your budget and how much space would you like?
