Hikmat Hajizade talks about his son Adnan

Hikmat Hajizade, the father of arrested Azeri blogger Adnan Hajizade talks about his son. Adnan and is friend, another Azerbaijani bloggers and youth activist Emin Milli were assaulted, severely beaten and then detained while dining in a downtown Baku restaurant on 8 July. The office of Azerbaijani Ombudsman has found significant violations in Emin and Adnan's detention: both had been refused decent medical assistance, detention protocols contained false information about "their criminal past", and the protocols were not presented to the detainees, which is itself a violation of basic laws. Two days later, on 10 July, a district court headed by Justice Rauf Ahmedov gave them two-month pretrial detention for allegedly committing hooliganism. The official investigation was concluded on 22 August and was sent to the court, and on 4 September, the judge Araz Huseynov presided over the preparatory session. At the moment of this upload, it is 82th day that Emin Milli and Adnan Hajizade remain under arrest. Their trial is still going on.

Interestingly, back in 1993, Hikmet Hajizade himself was assaulted and beaten (but not detained) while simply walking in the downtown. For more information, please see:
