On October 7, 2006, the long running Ohio Lottery game show Cash Explosion Double Play was replaced... with this.
Host David McCreary was brought in to be the "Hip new host", as evidenced by his highlights and outlandish wardrobe. The series lasted almost exactly one year, before it was replaced by a new version of Cash Explosion that debuted on October 6, 2007.
@supersaver87 I don't know. I couldn't watch that episode because the NBC affiliate that aired the show in my area (Youngstown, Ohio) was airing NFL Wild Card Saturday that night. You may be right about that, though.

@FutureNewsAnchor
Is that the same day they decided to play the first spin of each semi-final game off-camera?

@supersaver87 They had $0 spaces on the Safe board for only the first few months of the show. Effective with the 1/6/07 episode, all $0 spaces were eliminated from the Safe board.

Wow, I didn't know they tried the 'hip' thing with his hair and jacket

The "Safe" board has a zero on it. It's not as safe as they say it is, then.

The front game isn't all that bad, really. It got a bit better once they stopped putting 0s on the Safe board -- but that's also when they started picking up each game after one round had already been played. It's not a terrible idea for a lottery game at all, but McCreary just ruins it for me.

My lord, David McCreary is so annoying...

McCreary would gradually change his wardrobe after the return of Cash Explosion was announced. He'd wear "rock star" attire for the first seven or eight months of the show before moving to business suits for most of the final episodes.
