  • I remember watching the original broadcast and was unsure what film featured the Helicopter investigating the small ship. I wonder if it was 'Explorers'

  • Good post though, I recorded this Horizon when it was original aired in early 1985. I still have the tape somewhere

  • FFS. There was nothing quaint or simple about motion control photography used in the late 70s and 80s. These techniques were at the very vanguard of visual effects technology. The same people lamenting CGI are very same bores who were critising the original Star Wars for being too special effects driven.

    Oh and by the way most visual fx these days are of the hybrid nature, ie a mixture of both computer generated and model based techniques.
