Maria Callas was born in New York City in 1923 to Greek parents. The uniqueness of her angelic voice and her unmatched artistry of interpreting operatic music are the reasons why she was an opera superstar. Ms. Callas passed away in 1977. The soundtrack is "Suicidio!" from "La Gioconda" by Amilcare Ponchielli.

  • 18 yo, just loves her,:')

  • Forget the Lady Gaga problem, listen to this unique talent. It is not whether one type of music or performer beats another. The whole point is what makes you happier, makes you stop and just listen. There is no best!! Each to his own taste. Callas was a superb talent. There were, are and will be others. Brava Maria we will always love you.

  • @paxsamoana some of us do. Unfortunately most don't even know who she is and think beyonce is the pinnacle of vocal talent...

  • WE WILL MISS YOU MARIA!

  • She makes it look effortless, like anyone could get up there and do that.

  • Incredibly powerful and emotional. As previous viewer put it so well-chilling.

Thank you for posting. I would greatly appreciate details of recording so I can purchase.

  • I've never heard this opera before, but it gives me a chill! She's really powerful!

  • @celinedijuy Maria's singing "Suicidio" from Ponchielli's opera "La Gioconda" here.

  • could anybody please tell me the name of this aria?.thanks

  • @TheAdmiralPancake (cont...) Those pathetic clothes, the epileptic lights in her shows, the constant use of autotune in ALL her songs and could go on. A great singer does not need this. A great voice got the attention for itself not for what you wear, what you do, what you are! You are right, though, about we shouldn't limit ourselves from art. Sure! But when one starts to forget the art and start to think about the money and fame, then it's not art anymore. Just a meaningless entertainment!
