@robsargent4 Wow, That was a part of British History military I didn't know. I did know that Victoria send hundreds of thousands o fpeople to Aussie, South Africa, NZ and Canada. So it must have been in order to avoid the social revolution that took place in the continent

@EPJM1750 thought they were suppressing an attempt at revolution, but for the most part the "rebels" just wanted to be treated like human beings). There's been progress since then, in Britain & elsewhere, but there's still a long way to go before we get close to perfection - partly cos we all have different views on what perfect really means.

@EPJM1750 I'm not sure there's such thing as a decent country. In any case, the British state was oppressive, but the men of the Royal Navy were still brave men & to be honest I don't think Britain's fight in the Napoleonic Wars was entirely unjust. Great Film. If it were only historically accurate. Britain was the Soviet State of the time. Constant maritime depredation in the 7 seas. Ask the American Colonials, and all other decent countries of the time.
