I am a white american living on the east coast, and my heart and mind feels for this. Its hard to express _properly_ what i feel knowing how generations have gone by, yet native people of america still struggle and recollect the atrocities laid upon them. I, personally, have only pride and repsect for the people that have inhabited my native home ( only 4 generations) for thousands of years. I would love to glimpse what this country looked like nationally before the europeon epidemic. I think

TRUE. English is foreign IMMIGRANT language. Not satisfied with illegally OCCUPYING the land, like many other places around the world, they seek to pretend to be us or shoe- horn themselves in other peoples culture.

Within the Boarding School institutions 1879- 1970's the idea was to Assimilate the Indigenous into mainstream culture by taking away the Indigenous languages & doing this by taking children from their homes. The language was beaten out of the Indigenous children making them believe their language was bad therefore being Indigenous was bad. The 1st language of the Indigenous was not English; My spirit does not speak English; my spirit continues to be Indigenous and my culture still thrives.
