  • Whats this from?

  • @Ranbo316 a documentary about the making of the song

  • I read that David Bowie never believed in removing accidents that others would have viewed as mistakes, such as the ringing phones at the end of this song. But that he saw them as meant to be because they happened. That's artistic thinking...right? David Bowie is amazing!! I just love him. He so much over shadows and shows up thows interviewing him. He has class!!!!

  • @naumnn i totally agree with you, Bowie is not a common singer - songwriter, he is an artist.

thank you for your comment :)

  • When was this interview filmed?

  • @redsails2008 No I believe its a documentary about the making of the album Hunky Dory ;)

  • I've always wondered what Bowie says after the phone rings at the end of Life On Mars? Any ideas? It cuts off before he speaks on this upload, need to listen to the song. Sounds to me like "why don't we have some more", but probably isn't.

  • Charming, indeed. I saw the Spiders from Mars at the Hollywood Palladium in what, '73. Pretty good - and I lost interest in this skilled cabaret singer songwriter until he brought in Eno for the Berlin sessions. Blew my mind. Then I saw him at an A.A. meeting on a Sunday morning in the early 90s. I was right behind him in the coffee line, waddya say in a moment like that? "I like your work, man".

  • @howltothemoon101 I don't think we are going to see anything new from Bowie,I truly believe he's retired. I pains me to say this believe me. JMO anyway.

  • @naumnn Thats awesome. I semi-helped record an album about ten years ago and i did the same thing, convinced the band to leave in a couple of things that accidentally got recorded at the end of songs, which i thought was perfect because the singer couldnt decide if he wanted the song to fade out or end suddenly. I prefer this approach in film as well, leaving in minor mistakes, since of course in real life people tend to make mistakes, shouldnt fictional characters do it too?

  • A proper gentleman artist.

  • lol I remember hearing it... mostly cos I do this thing to songs where when they fade out I like to turn them up and you can hear something that sounds really out of place, whether its a hidden lyric for filler or something.

  • the life on mars video is my fav music video of all time, so siple yyet sooooo beautiful!

  • Thanks so much for posting this interview.., very interesting. Life On Mars sounds just as incredible today as it did in 1971-72. A fantastic song !
